The Metagon Benchmark collects and compares market prices for typical ICT services in Switzerland, allowing you to assess whether your IT costs are in line with market standards. This year's benchmark also includes international hyperscalers for the first time.
Our Outsourcing Benchmark is based on real market data from service providers. It is based on the principle that a company with approximately 150 to 600 users outsources large parts of its IT infrastructure and services for 5 years of operation.
The service provider delivers all the necessary services to the customer in this context. The collected IT services are standardized, precisely specified, and thus comparable. Services for virtual servers, SQL, storage, email and email backup/archive, client virtualization, software distribution, and FAT client management are compared. Furthermore, comparisons are made between private cloud (data centers with Swiss providers) and public cloud/hyperscalers (data centers from Microsoft, Amazon).

Key Findings IT-Sourcing Benchmark 2020
As in previous years, prices for the IT services examined between 2018 and 2020 have mostly decreased. However, the development varies greatly depending on the provider and service. The benchmark shows:

Cost savings of up to 20% are possible.

Prices have fallen significantly, especially for simple and standardized services.

Price differences for identical services in the market can be as much as 400%.
Although a uniform market price seems to be emerging for some IT services, the price differences for the entire service portfolio are substantial depending on the provider. Choosing the right provider already in the evaluation phase is crucial to achieving the most optimal cost-benefit ratio. Re-tendering or at least renegotiating expiring sourcing contracts is therefore a worthwhile option.
