Helvetas Future-proof IT structures

Helvetas required a clear direction for its IT infrastructure and application landscape in order to use existing systems efficiently and plan future technological developments in a targeted manner. In addition, it was essential to harmonise the use of collaboration tools and ensure consistent IT governance. To support this initiative, Metagon was commissioned to analyse and develop the IT strategy.

Metagon supported Helvetas in developing a future-oriented IT strategy. First, the current state of the IT infrastructure, application landscape and governance processes was analysed. Interviews were conducted with relevant stakeholders in the central administration and selected countries. Subsequently, business requirements were gathered, particularly in the areas of IT security, collaboration tools and process support.

Based on these findings, Metagon developed an IT strategy with guiding principles for IT alignment, target architecture and governance structure. The strategy was documented in a roadmap with concrete recommendations for action as well as a time and budget framework.

The IT strategy developed by Metagon provides Helvetas with clear guidance for the future development of its IT landscape. The defined target architecture, aimed at reducing complexity, and the roadmap enable a step-by-step implementation of the measures. This increases the efficiency of Helvetas’ digital working methods and ensures sustainable further development of its IT.
