Procurement of a pension solution from the perspective of a smaller pension fund
Matthias Hochrein, PVO
Providers of pension solutions are currently facing several challenges. New requirements, technological developments and a dynamic market environment are leading many pension funds to reassess and, in some cases, realign their existing solutions.
Review of the Lunch@Metagon
At the latest Lunch@Metagon, the discussion focused on how the introduction of new pension solutions can succeed in an increasingly complex environment.
To start, Michael Ackermann and Patrick Biner, partners at Metagon, provided an overview of current developments in the Swiss market. It quickly became clear that the market is currently undergoing significant change.
After the starter, Tobias Schmid from PK Siemens shared insights into the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing a new pension application. Topics such as automation and self-service played an important role, while also highlighting potential risks, particularly with solutions that are not yet fully mature.
During the main course, Matthias Hochrein from PVO Obwalden provided a practical perspective on the procurement process from the viewpoint of a smaller pension fund. He described the journey from initial orientation to contracting and shared valuable lessons learned from the implementation.
Throughout the discussion, it became evident that the market for pension solutions is currently evolving rapidly. Many existing solutions are being replaced, while new providers are entering the market. At the same time, many providers are operating at full capacity, making planning and implementation more challenging. As a result, early and realistic planning is becoming increasingly important.
It also became clear that implementing a new pension solution is not purely an IT topic. Rather, it involves balancing different requirements and finding a solution that fits the specific needs of each pension fund.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for exchange and new perspectives. Metagon’s team contributed their extensive experience on site and were able to provide valuable insights to many participants.
Metagon would like to thank all participants and speakers for the engaging discussions and valuable contributions.
