18. December 2020 | Know-How Metagon – Annual Review 2020

The year 2020 will undoubtedly be remembered as the "Corona Year" by people all over the world. However, there is another perspective on the past 12 months: Digitalisation has accelerated, and virtual meetings have become firmly established in business life.

Especially companies in the tertiary sector have adapted very well to home-office work thanks to "collaboration tools." We have all learned to use these technologies effectively and efficiently.

In the past year, Metagon successfully supported 15 companies in more than 20 projects. The focus was on implementing digital workplaces with the associated infrastructure services and on the digitalisation of processes with business software.

Digitalisation

We helped various clients evaluate suitable business software. Metagon has found that, at its core, a stable and modern ERP solution with open interfaces is essential for driving digitalisation successfully. Additional specialist applications can then be used as complementary solutions.

It is important to outline an application architecture that is tailored to the client's needs. Often, the software is not the problem; the solution simply does not meet the requirements, or the implementation is inadequate. An analysis of the entire application architecture, including interfaces and subsystems, is just as important for a successful evaluation as the evaluation of the partner.

This year, we supported evaluations and implementations in the areas of compliance, financial planning, fund management, HR solutions, workflow, DMS, and CRM.

Infrastructure and Digital Workplace

In 2020, Metagon created the IT Sourcing Benchmark for the fourth time. The insights from this were extremely valuable in our IT sourcing projects, particularly during contract negotiations with providers. The current trend in sourcing is leaning towards O365 and Azure cloud services for the security and management of clients. In the case of data centers and basic or shared services, hybrid solutions are increasingly being implemented. Pure "hyperscaler" solutions remain rare.

In these projects, Metagon analyzed the needs, developed solution designs, and supported the evaluation of suitable solutions. After successful contract negotiations with the provider, Metagon often had the opportunity to guide the transformation and transition process as well.

We thank our clients for their trust and the collaborative partnership and wish everyone a restful Advent season and a healthy 2021!
