ZugEstates AG and Hotelbusiness Zug AG Focus on Business Development

The IT infrastructures of the publicly listed ZugEstates AG and its subsidiary Hotelbusiness Zug AG had become outdated. Instead of investing large sums into IT, both organisations decided to completely outsource their IT infrastructure and allocate their internal resources to strengthen their digital capabilities.

Challenge

Due to the different IT infrastructure requirements of the two companies, a partner needed to be found through two parallel tenders. At the same time, the client's preference was for both migrations to be carried out within one project with the same partner for efficiency reasons.

Solution

This was a complex task, considering that ZugEstates follows a "Cloud First" approach with mobile workstations, while Hotelbusiness Zug favours a traditional solution hosted in the provider’s data centre. The only common factor was the two WAN lines at the shared location.

Together with the provider, the two transformations were planned in separate workstreams within the same project. This approach helped prevent duplication of efforts through a unified project organisation and coordination, allowing synergies to be leveraged.

Results

The parallelisation of the two transformations was challenging for all parties involved, but the successful migration, despite limited resources, was only made possible thanks to this approach. Both companies were able to start using their new outsourced infrastructures and services within nine months of the project’s start. The internal IT now focuses on digitalising and further developing the business.
