Managed IT services and IaaS in Switzerland are available from an established market, either operated in a private or public cloud. Many companies use the services offered in the market and outsource their entire IT infrastructure and services either fully or in large parts.

The trend of ongoing cost reductions for ICT services in the private cloud observed in previous years is not generally continuing. Some individual private cloud services have even seen significant price increases. On the other hand, certain services from the public cloud are now significantly cheaper than from the private cloud. For other services, however, the situation is exactly the opposite. Overall, there is currently no significant cost difference between the two types of service delivery (private vs. public cloud).

A calculation based on example companies of different sizes shows that the price range can be as high as 280%. Therefore, carefully choosing the right ICT provider for the specific company pays off.

Our outsourcing benchmark is based on real market data from service providers and the principle that a company with approximately 150 to 600 users outsources large parts of its IT infrastructure and services for 5 years of operation.

The service provider delivers all the necessary services to the customer in this context. The collected IT services are standardized, precisely specified, and thus comparable. Services for virtual servers, SQL, storage, email and email backup/archive, client virtualization, software distribution, and FAT client management are compared. Additionally, comparisons are made between the private cloud (data centers with Swiss providers) and the public cloud/hyperscalers (data centers from Microsoft, Amazon).
